Eligible Competition Classes
The 4NCHA Breeding Program includes the Futurity Open and Futurity Non Pro classes for three-year-old horses, and the Derby Open and Derby Non Pro classes for four-year-old horses.
Eligibility Requirements
* Both the owner and the rider must must hold a valid 4NCHA membership. For NCHA-approved shows, membership must be valid no later than the day of the competition.
* Futurity and Derby classes are governed by NCHA rules, and payouts will be distributed according to the official NCHA payout schedules.
* In addition to the program fees, each competing horse must pay the standard show fees, including entry fees, cattle charges, office fees, and any other fees established for the respective show.
Opening of Classes and Payout Distribution at Non-NCHA Approved Shows
A class will not be opened as an NCHA class if fewer than three contestants are entered. In such cases, the class may be held solely under 4NCHA, and the collected funds will be distributed as follows:
* 2 contestants: 1st place – 60%, 2nd place – 40%.
* 1 contestant: 1st place – 100%, provided a score of at least 60.5 points is achieved.
* If no contestants enter, all collected funds will be carried forward to the following year.
Multi-Round Competitions and Distribution of Funds
* If 4NCHA schedules two go-rounds in Futurity or Derby classes, the final result will be determined by the combined score from both rounds, and payouts will be distributed according to NCHA rules.
* Prize money will always be paid from the funds collected from enrolled horses in the respective year.
* Funds collected through the program will be allocated between Open and Non Pro classes in a ratio of 60% to 40%.
Futurity Fees
Fees must be paid no later than December 31 of the applicable year.
The enrollment fee is a one-time payment and depends on the horse’s age at the time of enrollment:
* €100 – Weanlings (horses born in the current year).
* €100 – Yearlings that have not yet reached 12 months of age during the current year.
* €200 – Two-year-old horses that have not yet reached 24 months of age during the current year.
* €500 – Three-year-old horses that have not yet reached 36 months of age during the current year.
A late enrollment penalty of €1,000 will apply to horses that are not enrolled in the program before reaching three years of age.
Derby Fees
A one-time fee of €200 must be paid by December 31 of the year in which the horse reaches three years of age.
For example, a horse foaled in 2023 must be enrolled, with the enrollment fee paidno later than December 31, 2026.
A late enrollment penalty of €1,000 will apply if the horse is entered after the deadline.
Transfer of Ownership and Non-Refundability of Fees
* Program fees are attached to the horse, not to its owner.
* All fees paid into the program are non-refundable, including in cases of injury, permanent disability, or death of the horse.
* In the event of a change of ownership, the horse shall remain enrolled in the program, and all rights and obligations associated with its participation shall transfer to the new owner.
Awards and Prizes
Winners of the Futurity Open, Futurity Non Pro, Derby Open, and Derby Non Pro classes will be recognized for their achievements.
Each winner will receive:
* A bronze trophy,
* A championship buckle,
* Prize money in accordance with the rules set forth in this program.
Transitional Provision
As the Futurity Program was established in 2024, horses foaled in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 may be exceptionally enrolled for a one-time fee of €100, provided payment is made no later than March 31, 2025.
As the Derby Program was established in 2026, the deadline for payment of the Derby enrollment fee is exceptionally extended until March 31, 2027.
